We’re thrilled to share some exciting news! The Geelong Laneways: Malop Arcade project has been honored with the 2025 Australian Institute of Architects National Award for Small Project Architecture. This achievement highlights the incredible transformation of central Geelong’s laneways into vibrant, green public spaces that connect communities and enhance urban life.
About the Project
The Malop Arcade initiative extended Dennys Place from Malop Street to Little Malop Street, creating a lush, pedestrian-friendly laneway. This revitalization effort was part of the Revitalising Central Geelong Partnership, involving the State Government, City of Greater Geelong, and the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Corporation. The design integrates greenery, stormwater management, and improved accessibility—making the space not only beautiful but sustainable.
