Marcus Oldham College – Accommodation North Redevelopment
About this project
The Accommodation North Redevelopment at Marcus Oldham College focused on modernising and upgrading the student residential facilities on campus. The project delivered improved living spaces, upgraded safety and compliance features, and a refreshed environment that better supports the College’s student community. The works ensured that the accommodation precinct aligned with contemporary standards, enhanced comfort, and long‑term durability.

- Conducting inspections at key milestones, including lightweight fire and smoke‑resisting building elements.
- Reviewing, approving, and stamping amended drawings to ensure compliance.
- Liaising closely with the design and construction teams to resolve technical questions promptly.
- Maintaining clear communication channels across stakeholders to keep the project flowing smoothly.
Our Approach
We applied a clear and pragmatic compliance approach, combining technical oversight with collaborative, solutions‑focused interactions. This included:
- Anticipating compliance needs early to reduce rework and uncertainty.
- Providing practical guidance to support the design team in meeting code requirements.
- Ensuring transparency across all approvals, documentation updates and inspection outcomes.
- Maintaining reliability and consistency in our turnaround times, communication and advice.
This collaborative, solution-focused approach led to achieving:
- Successful delivery of a fully updated accommodation facility that now meets current regulatory and performance standards.
- Smooth coordination between project partners through consistent communication and documentation control.
- Responsive handling of inspection bookings, amendments, and clarifications to avoid delays.
- Proactive oversight of fire safety, structural documentation and regulatory compliance across the project lifecycle.
