Our Involvement
BSA was appointed as the Relevant Building Surveyor for the project. Our role encompassed regulatory oversight from design through to completion, including:
- Providing regulatory advice during the design and documentation stages
- Assessing documentation for compliance with the NCC, Building Regulations and relevant performance-based solutions
- Reviewing Performance-Based Design Briefs relating to access and hearing augmentation systems
- Issuing building permits for the proposed works
- Conducting mandatory inspections throughout construction
- Reviewing certification and supporting the occupancy and approval process in consultation with Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV)
Our Approach
Working closely with the design team, consultants, the Victorian School Building Authority and school representatives, our team prioritised clear communication and proactive regulatory guidance. Particular focus was placed on managing performance solutions, public safety, and compliance within a live school setting, ensuring risks were identified early and addressed efficiently throughout the project lifecycle.
Conclusion
The Nelson Park School project delivered modern, compliant learning and administration facilities that enhance the school’s operational capability and learning environment. BSA’s involvement ensured the works met all regulatory obligations while supporting a smooth delivery process aligned with the project’s educational objectives.
